Working with new or mid-career professionals to help map out the framework, assets, and services of their business ideas. Advising on ways to share, translate, and mobilize knowledge toward a greater business or organizational mission.

Sometimes it takes someone else’s eyes and ears to help a person realize the interconnectedness of their experiences: their purpose, their professional paths, and their accomplishments. Over several years, I have worked with individuals to meet 1-1, engage in a thoughtful and personal interview, LISTEN to them, and capture their personal narratives into short form, medium form, and long form biography formats.

Collaborated with a BC University to seek continued funding for a university-based project that preserves a sacred practice within a First Nation’s culture.

Collaborating with a First Nations organization in British Columbia to find, analyze, and write grant applications focused on infusing traditional First Nations knowledge into a centuries-old sector.

Collaborating with a leading Indigenous Relations education academy to re-write Canada’s history and help non-Indigenous Canadians effectively and respectfully engage and honour First Nations, Inuit, and Metis (FNIM) peoples in Canada.

Collaborating with members of a local heritage community organization in Nanaimo, B.C. over a year to write and publish a book that documents 125 years of history.

Worked with a Community Based Researcher and a diverse team of academics and community practitioners from one of Canada’s top research universities to apply for a substantial grant to support the health needs of a specific demographic within Canada.

Collaborated with a national nonprofit focused on mental health and raising awareness. Projects included developing program frameworks, creating training documents for online training programs focused on peer support, advising on social media, education, and content strategies so to create the greatest impact for the target audience.

Collaborated with the organization’s founder to write a grant proposal for a United Way grant. The grant was to seek funding for a program that provides free, biweekly meal box of fresh and locally-sourced groceries to low-income families residing in mid-Ontario.

Sub-contracted under Lisa Isaac HR Professional Services and using a lens of substantive equality, Anne-Marie engaged in qualitative and quantitative data analysis to write a research report for an Indigenous non-profit spanning five First Nations about the gaps in provincial social assistance for members of First Nations in Ontario.

The report culminated in a set of recommendations, action items, and next steps to improve social assistance outcomes on First Nations while underscoring the need to decolonize Canadian systems.

In collaboration with the Economic Development Department, Anne-Marie was the Lead Researcher on a six-month Feasibility Study that examined attitudes towards cannabis regulation across the 39 Anishinabek Nations in Ontario. Project involved designing the methodology, data collection and analysis, holding community forums, writing case studies, and designing a set of recommendations that culminated in an extensive report for the nation to consider as they consider their cannabis economy.

In collaboration with Canadian Women in Cannabis (CWIC), Anne-Marie led the promotion and built the content for “Bringing DEI to the Table” at two Canadian cannabis conferences in 2022. This involved highlighting important statistics and studies that illustrate the lack of equity in the Canadian cannabis industry. Acted as a facilitator of a panel at a conference in Victoria, BC in June 2022.

In collaboration with BIPOCann, Anne-Marie interviews and writes stories on a Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color, or allies, within the cannabis industry to elevate their story of how they were impacted by the ongoing War on Drugs, and managed to overcome adversity in an increasingly challenging industry.

Provided writing support for applications for medical cannabis license applications in Illinois and Missouri. One collaborator now operates 7 medical cannabis dispensaries across Missouri.

When cannabis legalization was new in Canada, Anne-Marie gathered together cannabis industry pioneers on Vancouver Island for a series of networking events designed to trade best practices and hold important discussions for the future of the industry.

When Venezuela was experiencing a hunger crisis, Anne-Marie, as part-owner of a tattoo studio in Costa Rica, held a tattoo fundraiser where money raised went to purchasing medical supplies and personal care products that were sent to Venezuela.

While working as Manager of the now defunct London Poverty Research Centre (LPRC) at King’s University College, Anne-Marie engaged in a series of social media, event planning, and knowledge translation projects surrounding the importance of paying a Living Wage as well as the merits of exploring a Universal Basic Income program within Canada.

Through a partnership with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKWAT) and Western University, Anne-Marie participated in a staff exchange where she was able to work alongside faculty at JKWAT to integrate community engaged scholarship into classes and university programs over a 3-week period. Following the experience at JKWAT, Anne-Marie traveled to Rwanda to learn about the ongoing effects of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide.

Founded a working group composed of members from various faculties and departments at Western University to create university-wide approaches to engagement between Western University and London, Ontario and surrounding areas.

Founded and planned an annual event to bring people from London’s nonprofits to campus to facilitate connections between organizations and university faculty, researchers, students, and resources.

Small research study within Masters of Education program at Western University examining the role of Gay-Straight Alliances within London, Ontario’s high schools. Engaged in methodology design, data collection and analysis, and reporting of results.

In collaboration with Pride Western and The Student Success Centre, Out on the Office ran at Western University for three consecutive years as a conference for 2SLGBTQIA+ students to prepare to transition into the workforce as their authentic selves. Received the 2011 Vice Provost Award for Innovation.

Worked alongside other volunteer community members on initiatives pertaining to poverty reduction and eradication in the city of London, Ontario. Included participating in annual funding cycles and evaluating proposals for funding by various community agencies and nonprofits and allocating hundreds of thousands of fundraised dollars across the community.
